Take a break from the heat wave tomorrow afternoon with an artist talk at Harold Washington Library. Chicago street artists Brooks Golden and Nice One have created a large-scale installation for the space and along with guest curator Oscar Arriola, they will be discussing their work and "the meaning and method of street art as art without parameters."

Brooks Golden promotes humor and allegory through the exploration of the distinctly American footprint in his folk and tribal-based street art. A staple of the Chicago street art community, his passion for it shows not only through his work, but in his extensive knowledge of the history of the scene here in Chicago.

Nice One's large scale wheat pastes feature an attention to detail that sets his work apart. His bright, whimsical creatures are thoughtfully placed on canvasses that complement the work, and there's a subtle satire that lingers among the strange creatures who wear his signature scuba goggles.

The artist talk with Brooks Golden, Nice One, and curator Oscar Arriola is Saturday, July 7 at 2 p.m. in the 8th floor Art Reference Room of the Harold Washington Library at 400 S. State Street in the South Loop. Art from Chicago’s Streets will be on display on the 8th floor of the library from June 15-Aug. 10.
