Purple Line riders take note: service on the Evanston-based "L" line will be shut down this weekend starting at 8:30 p.m. tonight so that viaducts at Grove and Dempster Streets can be replaced. CTA will be running shuttle buses between Dempster and Sherman throughout the weekend. The shuttles will depart from the Howard and Davis stations approximately every 5-15 minutes and will operate during the same hours of operation as the Purple Line.

For anyone interested in seeing the progress of the construction work, the city of Evanston will have a live feed of the Grove Street viaduct from Minuteman Press that can be accessed here. The new viaduct is expected to be put in place between 6-8 p.m. June 23. Now you can see a bridge being replaced in 48 hours in real time.
