SushiSamba Rio Unveils New Brunch Menu

By Melissa Wiley in Food on Jun 14, 2012 4:12PM

The eclectic culinary coup known as SushiSamba is primed to sashay into your weekend afresh. The Japanese cum Peruvian cum Brazilian restaurant has a revamped brunch menu on offer, and it’s heavy on Latin verve, meaning churrascos, frittatas, feijoada, and other fare you’d expect to find south of the border. The only nod to any Eastern cuisine comes in the form of bubbletails, Prosecco-based cocktails sweetly simpatico with fruit-flavored bubble tea, but it’s a welcome nod indeed on a sizzling early afternoon, and you can still have the sushi once the sun sets.

The menu divides up fairly evenly between sweet and savory, with our personal favorites being the doce de leite French toast and the shrimp and polenta, intermixed with Manchego and an organic poached egg. You can certainly avail yourself of lighter, less calorie-laden dishes like the smoked fish plate and quinoa waffles, but the menu is weighted in the lobster eggs benedict with miso-yuzu hollandaise direction. Ole! And konnichiwa.

SushiSamba Rio is located at 504 N. Wells Street.
