Last Minute Plans: Veggie Pride Parade

By Amy Cavanaugh in Food on Jun 2, 2012 3:00PM

Vegetarian? Vegan? Just like to indulge your green side? Celebrate the veggie diet today when the first Chicago edition of the Veggie Pride Parade kicks off at noon in Grant Park. The website promises guest speakers, a costume contest, and other activities.

The Pride Parade started in Paris in 2001, and there have been volunteer-run parades in New York, Toronto, Santa Monica, and Los Angeles. The Chicago parade is organized by ChicagoVeg, a group for local vegetarians, vegans, and raw foodists. You need to register if you want to march—registration begins at 11 a.m. near Balbo and Columbus—or sign up online at veggiepride.com/chicago.
