In Pictures: Bike The Drive

The novelty of Bike the Drive, of course, is riding a bicycle on a Lake Shore Drive that has been shut down to motorized vehicles. When we've participated in Bike the Drive in previous years we paid attention to the architecture we passed: the juxtaposition of the new Soldier Field dwarfing its (formerly) landmark colonnades; the high-rise apartment buildings on the North side; the way the downtown skyline slowly opens up like an open book as one approaches from the North side, but is laid out in full glory from the South side; the rapid progress along the lakefront.
Bike the Drive has quickly become one of the most popular cycling events in Chicago, for the novelty and the views. Here's a short but sweet gallery that hopefully highlights that.
