Four Guardian Angels Stabbed At Red Line Station

Four Guardian Angels volunteer CTA security guards were stabbed and injured Tuesday night when they tried to intervene in a robbery. The Angels were waiting on the platform at the Clark and Division station when they saw a man on the train hitting a passenger with a handgun and taking his iPhone 4S.

The Tribune writes:

"As the train's pulling up, I noticed (the robber) hovering around (the victim) from behind. So the passenger had no clue," [Miguel Fuentes, the head of the local Guardian Angels chapter] said hours after the attack left him with 17 stitches in his right arm.

As the train pulled to the stop, Fuentes said he saw the robber pull a handgun and hit the passenger from behind. "People get up, they start running. . .They're screaming. The train still hadn't made a complete stop," Fuentes said.

Fuentes grabbed the robber, but he pulled away and ran. The other Angels grabbed him, and the four had him subdued when a second robber approached them with a folding knife and started stabbing.

The four Angels and the robbery victim are all in good condition. The two robbers escaped in a cab, then bailed it at Oak and Orleans. Police are checking surveillance footage.

Remember, folks. Be careful flaunting your electronic toys on transit.
