Last Minute Plans: Tiger Bones’ Final Show

By Sarah Cobarrubias in Arts & Entertainment on Jan 6, 2012 5:20PM

2012_01_06_Tiger_Bones.jpg It seems like Tiger Bones had just arrived on the scene before they announced they were calling it quits. The local post-punkers used to play under the name Gay Baby, but they soon got more serious and just last year put out a debut EP Go Over Here under their new moniker. Now the band is parting ways, and they’re saying goodbye with one last show tonight at the Metro.

Guitarist Jay Ranz tells the Tribune that the band previously had trouble getting the whole group together for practice, and Guitarist Nick Hagen (who lives in Champaign) eventually had to quit due to the long commute. But there’s no bad blood between the members, and so tonight’s final show should be a fond farewell. Tiger Blood is opening for headliners Pet Lions and supporting act The Hudson Branch.

To further commemorate their parting, Tiger Bones put out an aptly titled farewell EP, When You Die, a couple weeks ago. You can download it for free through Candy Dinner records.

Tiger Bones performs tonight, Friday, January 6, at the Metro, 3730 N Clark, 9 p.m., $9, 18+
