Gonna Start A Riot (Fest)!

RF2011_WebPoster_.jpg Chicago’s punk show Riot Fest is in full swing today, kicking off a huge weekend with so many great acts, the only downside is that we can’t be in more than a few places at once. Unfortunately, we missed out on the X show last night at the Bottom Lounge, featuring a film screening of X: The Unheard Music, but we’ll be making up for lost time this entire weekend.

Tonight, the Bottom Lounge hosts ALL along with the Pavers, which features Scott Reynolds from ALL. Chicago’s very own Neutron Bombs will open the show and if you get a chance, be certain to try to get there early. We had the fortune of checking them out when they opened for the Subhumans and they blew us off the stage. If you’re heading to the main hub of the fest, the Congress Theater, Reverend Payton’s Big Damn Band will be opening for Social Distortion, with the Tossers filling in the second slot.

On Friday, Helmet headlines the double door at 9:00 p.m. and if you miss ALL tonight, you can catch them with Down by Law, the Chinese Telephones and The Holy Mess at the Bottom Lounge at 9:30. The big highlight of tomorrow night though, will be the Danzig Legacy show aqt the Congress. We’re more than psyched to see a nearly 2 hour long set featuring songs from Danzig, Samhain and The Misfits. The added bonus of both Macabe and Youth of Today opening the night up are the sweetest icing on the cake.

We’ll have a preview for Saturday and Sunday tomorrow, along with photos and more from tonight’s Social Distortion show. If you’re scrambling to schedule how to fit in all of the amazing sounds available this weekend, the Riot Fest website has you covered.

Tickets to many of the shows are, for now, still available!
