See Food: Apple Fest

Apple Fest: the most straightforward festival ever? No surprises here folks, this fest we told you about last week was all about those fruits of fall.

Apple cider, apple waffles, apple donuts (dear god the smell), apple pie, apples, apple jam, apple butter, candy apples... everything you expect to be made out of apples was included in this festival in Lincoln Square. One surprise? Apple pizza. The apples seemed to be hidden on that one, but nonetheless, interesting fare.

The apple pie from The Chopping Block was a treat that really caught our eye. It was huge, flaky and topped with a generous dollop of whipped cream. German edibles from Chicago Brauhaus strayed away from the strict apple diet of the day but looked just as appealing. The event was kid-friendly, there was live music and free swag from sponsors.

It's safe to say that if you went to this fest because you're an apple lover, you weren't disappointed.
