Road Rage Fight Ends in Tragedy in Joliet

By Samantha Abernethy in News on Aug 14, 2011 8:30PM

One man was killed and one was injured when their roadside argument spilled into oncoming traffic Saturday night. John M. Donahue, 63, was killed, and Aaron Wood, 25, suffered severe injuries to his legs and pelvis. The two exited their cars and started fighting along the side of the road, then stumbled into traffic, and a car struck both of them.

Sun-Times writes:

“Both appeared to get…road rage that lead to Wood cutting off Donahue north of Caton Farm Road, forcing him to stop in the inside lane,” Trafton said.

Wood reportedly got out and struck the Jeep with his hands and feet, before Donahue got out and the verbal argument turned into a fist fight that put both men into oncoming traffic.

Police said the driver couldn't see the two because of the positioning of their vehicles and the glare of the headlights. The driver of the car was not injured.
