Last-Minute Plans: Creed Bratton at Elbo Room

By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on May 25, 2011 9:40PM

2011_5_25_creed_bratton.jpg Fans of the American version of The Office best know Creed Bratton as the detached completely from reality, sociopathic quality control manager at Dunder Mifflin Sabre. Away from the cameras, Bratton is an accomplished musician who had a notable run in the 60s and 70s as a member of psychedelic pop band The Grass Roots.

Bratton's success as an actor also affords him the flexibility to still pursue music. He released an album last year called Bounce Back that, based on the song "Rubber Tree," may be in the wheelhouse of anyone who keeps their radio tuned into WXRT. (Not intended as a slight to "Chicago's Finest Rock.")

Bratton is also performing a free show tomorrow from 7-8 p.m. in the lounge at Elbo Room (2871 N. Lincoln Ave.) that is worth checking out at the very least for the curiosity factor. We're including three videos in this post. The first is the video for "Rubber Tree," with Bratton's The Office co-star Ed Helms on banjo. That's followed by "Let's Live for Today" from his days in the Grass Roots. We'll close things out with a montage of Dunder Mifflin Creed Bratton moments.
