After spending roughly $11 million in his successful campaign to be the next mayor, Rahm Emanuel has about $2.1 million left in his campaign fund which may be used to fund aldermanic races, an Emanuel spokesman said on Friday via the Chicago Tribune.

Gery Chico, who finished second in the mayoral race on Tuesday, raised about $3.5 million in the same time frame. Details on how Emanuel spent his campaign money have not been revealed because state campaign finance reports are not due for a few more months; however, it's clear that a significant amount was spent on television and radio commercials.

Like Emanuel, Mayor Daley was also a prolific fundraiser, although he only raised $6.8 million and spent around $5.4 million in his 2007 campaign for mayor, state records show.
