Meeks Residency Challenged by "Dock" Walls

Rahm Emmanuel isn’t the only mayoral candidate whose candidacy faces residency challenges.

The Northwest Indiana Times reports William “Dock” Walls III filed a request challenging Sen. James Meek’s candidacy, because his primary residence is in suburban South Holland. Even though the Illinois State Board of Elections shows that Meeks listed his address in Chicago when he filed as a candidate for the 2008 election, attorney Andrew Finko alleges Meeks hasn’t maintained that as a residence for the past year.

Records show Meeks is listed as the owner of the property in South Holland and has paid bills through the second half of this year, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the residence on Indiana Avenue isn’t his primary residence. In addition to his residency however, the challenge also alleges that Meeks owes the city money for unpaid vehicle stickers.
