Do This: Promote Literacy with Branch 27

By Anthony Todd in Food on Oct 15, 2010 3:00PM

Branch27Charity.jpg We love it when we can eat great food and do a little bit of good at the same time. Branch 27 has teamed up with Open Books, an organization that promotes reading and literacy, to offer some special meals. On Thursday nights, Chef John Manion will prepare a special "Open-Branch" menu. If patrons choose to try this three-course fixed price meal, a portion of the proceeds will go to Open Books. There is also an Open-Branch wine flight available, and part of the cost of that will also be donated.

Branch 27 has been covered with accolades since it opened, and we can't imagine they're having trouble filling the tables. That makes their efforts at charity even more admirable. The restaurant is located in the former 27th Ward Public Library, which makes this attempt at literary beneficence oddly appropriate.

Branch 27 is located at 1371 W. Chicago. This promotion has no ending date right now, but always call ahead to be sure it is still running.
