Early this week a spree of shootings occurred in rural Illinois and Indiana that left one man dead and two others wounded. Brian Dorian, 37, a former Lynwood police officer, was arrested Friday and charged with a single count of first-degree murder. Prosecutors of Will and Lake County said they expect more charges to be filed in connection to the shootings later on, the Tribune reported.

Dorian allegedly approached victims with peculiar questions asking one about honeybees. Rolando Alonso, 45, of Hammond, Ind., was shot and killed when Dorian reportedly pulled over his vehicle and asked Alonso questions about building materials on Tuesday. Josh Garza, 19, of Dyer, Ind. was wounded near Beecher, Ill. and Keith Dahl, 64, was wounded near Lowell, Ind. over the three day spree.

Dorian joined the force in 1998, but was on medical leave since Oct. 2009 for sustaining a shoulder injury while on duty. He has no previous history of mental imbalances. His neighbors at his Crete home said he was a nice guy and family members believe he is not the shooter. In 2006 Dorian killed a 17 year old teenager when he was speeding (83 mph) along Highway 394 and crashed into Dylan Drapeau's Ford Focus. He was sentenced 12 months supervision, fined $500, and had to complete 200 hours of community service.
