Sox Tame Tigers
Not even an 82-minute rain delay could disrupt the Sox this time around, the team marching on to an 8-4 victory over Detroit to stay a game behind the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central. The Sox blew the game open in the fifth, led by Gordon Beckham's three-run homer and Mark Teahen added a two-run shot in the sixth to keep the offense rolling. Mark Buehrle allowed three runs over 6.1 innings of work to get the win, his 11th on the year. The Sox are only 7-6 in August so far but still only a game behind the Twins. They've also owned the Tigers, winning four of their last five against Detroit, a trend they aim to continue into tonight's game to help them keep pace with the Twins (6:05 p.m., WGN).

Cubs Fold To Cards
Things got off to such a promising start for the Cubs but they ultimately fell 6-3 to the Cardinals, their 15th loss in 18 games. Marlon Byrd singled in two runs in the top of the first to give the Cubs an early 2-0 lead, but it would be all Cards from there. Derrek Lee cut into the Cards lead with a solo homer in the eighth but that was as close as the Cubs would get. Rookie Thomas Diamond continued to struggle, taking his third straight loss. The team will try to muster some sort of saving grace today when they try to snap their current three-game losing streak (3:10 p.m., FOX).
