Avoid Ticketmaster And Live Nation Local Fees Whenever Possible

Look, we can't believe the Department of Justice actually went ahead and approved the merger of Ticketmaster And Live Nation either, especially in light of the effects it will possibly have on the local concert scene. So we're going to do whatever we can to avoid further fattening their coffers whenever possible.

Luckily for us, Brent over at Time Out Chicago has put together a handy list of local venues utilizing independent vendors or options with lower fees.

UPDATE: Duh, we should have mentioned it but big thanks to commenter ad for reminding everyone that "if you go to a venue's box office (even those that use ticketmaster/live nation) to purchase tickets directly, you can usually beat the majority of the "convenience fees" ticketmaster tacks on to online purchases." Excellent advice!
