Sun-Times Media Group Shake Up

Sun-Times Media Group Inc has announced organizational and management changes. They are hoping these changes will help the ailing company to cut costs. The changes announced include new publishers for the suburban papers and new duties for the current publisher of the Chicago Sun-Times.

2009_03_st_media.gif Fred Lebolt will take over as publisher of Lake County News-Sun and the Southtown Star. He has been in charge of Fox Valley Publications. John Barron will be publisher of the Pioneer Press division, this is in addition to his duties as publisher of the Chicago Sun-Times. As publisher of the Pioneer Press division he will also be in charge of North Shore Magazine. Lisa Tatina will replace Murdoch Davis as publisher of Post-Tribune and the Southtown Star. Tatina is the vice-president of advertising for the Post-Tribune.

Barbara Swanson is now Senior Vice President of Advertising and Marketing for the Sun-Times News Group, previously she served as Group Vice President of Advertising and Marketing. This new position will add direct responsibilities for all local advertising functions.

Rich Surkamer, Sun-Times chief operating officer, announced in a statement, "These changes give our experienced executives the tools they need to take advantage of those opportunities by allowing them to better focus on customer service and reach quicker decisions that are right for our clients and for the organization."
