Empty Out Your Wallet: Hump Day Edition

Lots of bands are announcing late summer/early fall tour dates for our fair city and lots of Lolla-related shows happening, so while you wait for the weekend, here are some shows you can utilize your Ticketmaster clicking finger on.

Coldplay's just can't get enough of Chicago. Even though tickets are still available for their July 23 show at the United Center, Mr. Gwyneth Paltrow and crew have added a second date for July 22, also at the House That Jordan Built. Start saving now: tickets ain't cheap.

Getting hyped for Lollapalooza but worried the schedule may cause you to miss a few of your favorite bands? Never fear: several bands are announcing club dates to coincide with their Lolla appearance. Married couple and friends of This American Life Mates of State play the fest on Friday, August 1 and then hit the Double Door with MGMT for a free show later that night. On Saturday, the Double Door also hosts Day 2 bands Battles and Foals. Meanwhile, the Metro has Friday bands Golgol Bordello and the Ting Tings later that night. Then, Canadian indie rock heavyweights Broken Social Scene will play the festival on Saturday, August 2nd but will follow-up with a show also at the Metro later that night.

Wu-Tanger GZA hits the House of Blues early in September, a can't-miss performance of his Liquid Swords album in its entirety.

The Dandy Warhols hit up the Vic in September with openers Darker My Love.

Folk grrrrrrrrrl extraordinaire Ani DiFranco hits up the Chicago Theatre this October.

And, finally, we close with some bad news. For those of you waiting eagerly for the July 20 Cinderella/Warrant show at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, the show has been canceled. No word yet on a make-up date.
