Dancing with Chew

2008_6zombie.jpg Mmm, the zombie: from folklore to literature, courtesy Richard Matheson, to movies, courtesy George A. Romero, to ... the dancefloor, courtesy the Hideout (for the moment we'll skip the cocktail incarnation). Tonight you're invited to lurch and gnaw to the sounds of Charlie Universe and the Little Star Music Box and Undead DJ Narwhal. We assume that means that "Thriller" will get played at least once, and perhaps a few tracks from Odyssey and Oracle The fun starts at 9. If you actually come in zombie garb admission is only $5. It's $8 for the living.

If dancing's not your bag but you're still feeling ghoulish, head down to U of C to catch Wisconsin Death Trip. It's a bleak and darkly humorous look at the Black River Falls area in the 1890s, a time and place where (based on newspaper accounts) murder, suicide, violence and demon possession seemed commonplace. The screening is at Doc Films, 7 o'clock.
