Wife Says She Didn't Know Of Husband's Murder Scheme

2008_3_6.justinnewman.jpgMore information is surfacing about last week's bizarre murder suicide/death-faking plot/insurance scam. Ari Squire, who killed Justin Newman (pictured) and later killed himself, sent Newman's mother text messages from her son's phone saying he was OK. Gah.

Denise Squire's attorney denied that she knew anything about her husband's plan and said that his client is cooperating with the police. You know, the police who say the couple exchanged emails after Ari's fake death. Elliot Pinsel, Denise's lawyer, wouldn't comment on the whole e-mail thing. But he says "she knew nothing about the plan; she knew nothing about the designs." Pinsel says people have turned their backs on his client and that she was fired from her job as an associate professor at National Louis University.

Police seized a computer from the Squire's Lake Barrington home this weekend, hoping to uncover more incriminating emails.

Newman's family says he knew Squire for a while and that Squire had convinced Newman he could get him a higher-paying construction job. Newman wanted to make more than he was earning at the 4am-1pm shift at Home Depot so he could take care of his mother. [S-T, S-T, Trib, CBS 2]
