Baby-on-Board Review: Timeless Toys

By Elizabeth Shapiro in Miscellaneous on Dec 19, 2007 5:05PM

This shopping holiday season, we’re committed to buying our kid’s presents from local small businesses. Our new crush is Timeless Toys in Lincoln Square.

2007_12_TimelessToys.gifThis tiny store is packed with a fantastic selection of items from companies that have been heralded for their attention to safety and developmental appropriateness (and lack of Cartoon Network characters splashed all over them) like Plan Toys, Haba, Schleich and Ravensburger. We love this store's unusual and massive selection of plush puppets, musical toys that don’t grate our eardrums, and surprisingly well stocked book area.

On their website, Timeless Toys admits that 80% of toys in general are manufactured in China and most pass strict safety inspections; for parents unimpressed, they do provide a list of toys they carry that have been manufactured elsewhere.

The toy we were coveting on Amazon? Not only was it in stock here, but it was cheaper. Even on a crowded weekend, we were able to easily locate what were looking for and purchase it within minutes. Although the store is laid out well, we’d ditch the bulky stroller during busy shopping hours.

Timeless Toys is located at 4749 N. Lincoln. Check out their website for their hours, but mind the creepy elf.
