The DIY Trunk Show is a yearly event that brings the best of Chicago's alternative craft community together for you. Not only will you be able to get everything from handmade clothing to jewelry to art to music, but you’ll be buying it from a real live person here in Chicago who made it themselves. That beats buying mass-produced junk from some corporation. Also, remember, the holiday gift-giving season is just around the corner, so this is the perfect chance to buy a one-of-a-kind gift for that certain someone.

If alternative crafts make you hot, but you have no idea how to begin, then maybe you should check out one of these two workshops that are being held. From 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Rebeca Mojica will show you haw to make chainmaille jewelry for only a buck (to cover materials). Or you can learn how to knit for free from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

The DIY Trunk show will be at the Pulaski Park Auditorium this Saturday, November 18, 2006, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
