It wasn't your imagination. There really were extra problems on Lake Shore Drive this morning, with 20 vehicles damaged and 3 people injured. Stupid potholes. Now it's even more convenient for the City to take your money! New robot kiosks now accept payments for your parking tickets, water bills and red-light tickets. An update to this morning's story about the 4-year-old who was shot and killed: her brother has been charged, as a juvenile,...

We have an idea for how to end unemployment in this town forever. Just introduce everyone to Todd Stroger. He's still a big fan of hooking his pals up with jobs, like Patty Young, girlfriend of Stroger buddy Commissioner William Beavers. Once the Sun Times started sniffing around, Young left her spot in the county purchasing department. Are Illinois's state tests too easy? Depends who you ask. Lance Briggs pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor...

When we are alone on the train or on the street late at night, especially if we are (maybe just a little) impaired in any way, we are pretty cautious. We turn off our music and just generally try to be aware of our surroundings without being afraid of them. That being said, we've found in recent years that the very best defense against would-be attackers is a ponytail directly on top of the head....

Better yet, how do they say it without a robot heart? On Monday, 38-year-old Reverend Daniel McCormack pleaded guilty to molesting five boys at St. Agatha Parish and Our Lady of the Westside School. He received a five-year sentence and was immediately was taken into custody. At first, we were actually pleased. It seems we never hear about any priests who actually get called out into the public eye and who even make it to...

Increasingly frequent acts of violence and sexual assault, a suicide on campus and bad management led to DCFS' decision to remove their wards from Maryville, with a mandate that Maryville review and...

Chicagoist: Peeking into the minds of the mad, the dangerous and the just plain stupid.

Police chases don't always end well (that guy in the picture does not look like he's having fun), but this week we found a few fast-moving suspects who lived to tell an entertaining story:

Is it just us, or is it still exceptionally creepy when you hear that a teacher was having sexual relations with an underage student? Better yet, isn't it still exceptionally creepy when you see the picture of the teacher that was having sex with the underage student? Well, we've got two more in the Chicago area to add on our road to desensitization.

What happened with the down and dirty this weekend? Let's see:

So the Cardinals won the Series. Yeah, yeah. The Cubs fans can't stand it, and the Sox fans are equally chagrined, what with just ruling the school last year and then not even making it the playoffs this year (insert sad foghorn noise here).
