On Friday night, we dined at MK and had one of the best seared scallops we've ever eaten. Perfectly seared with a golden brown crust. We wanted to know if we could come close to re-creating this at home. We gave it a go and found that it wasn't as difficult as we thought! Directions in the photo captions. And, if you have a favorite way to eat your seared scallops, let us know and we'll try to re-create the dish. Step 1 begins with the second picture. Enjoy!

We hope you had the opportunity to read our interview with MK's Tony Galzin yesterday.
We were fortunate enough to spend some time in MK's kitchen with Pastry Chef, Tony Galzin. In addition to letting us peek over his shoulder as he plated desserts, he answered questions on how he became a pastry chef, trends in the industry, seasonal ingredients and how to best incorporate and enjoy dessert. Also, tomorrow, we will feature video of Chef Galzin working in the kitchen.
We are looking to you, dear reader, to let us know where you'd like us to visit for our Food Pr0n series. Any restaurants in particular have you curious? Comment below or Twitter lstolpman. Here's a reminder of where we've been:

Here's something to consider for that person in your life who lives to dine out but is a pain in the ass to shop for. à la card Chicago is an update on the clichéd and tacky coupon book. It's a deck of cards offering $10 off the tab at 52 of the area's best restaurants. Looking through the deck we saw a slew of restaurants we love, such as Mundial Cocina Mestiza, Hot Doug's, Mana Food Bar, Le Lan, Naha, Lula Café, MK, Manny's, Mado, Kitsch'n.
We were graciously allowed to visit the kitchen of Chef Michael Kornick's restaurant, MK, to capture pictures of their food. Our only regret was not catching a shot of the signature pommes frites served with truffle cream (do yourself a favor and order the extra truffle cream from the start...you won't be sorry). Enjoy!
Over the holidays we received some lavender tincture from John Kinder, the sick talented bartender/mixologist at mk (some readers might remember Kinder from his days at moxie).
