Sunday would have been an awfully rough day in the stands of U.S. Cellular Field had it not been Star Wars Day at the ballpark. White Sox fans dressed up in their Tatooine best for a sold-out game against the Twins, who walloped the home team 7-0.
Security was dressed up appropriately in stormtrooper gear. Padmé Amidala sang the national anthem. Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine loomed ominously on the field, too. Fans got in on the fun, too:
Alas, in the end, the dark forces won:
#StarWars day's #WhiteSox loss reminded fans that the magical 2005 season was "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away."
