The narcissistic train wreck that is Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was lustily booed in his season debut at U.S. Cellular Field Monday night. A-Rod would have been given a collective raspberry even before he was handed a 211-game suspension by Major League Baseball for his involvement in the Biogenesis scandal.
Rodriguez was the biggest name among the 13 players suspended Monday and called the past seven months a "nightmare." "What we've always fought for is the process and I think we have that, and I think at some point we'll sit in front of an arbiter and we'll give our case. That's as much as I feel comfortable saying right now."
Rodriguez stroked a single off Jose Quintana in his first at bat, his only hit of the night in a game that saw the Sox put together one of their best games of the season. Quintana scattered eight hits and struck out five in 6 2/3 innings. Alex Rios was 2 for 4 at the plate and drove in four runs while Alexei Ramirez had two RBI.
