A new month didn't bring new results for the White Sox, who kicked off May with a 6-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles. Gavin Floyd looked strong early, but fell into trouble in the fifth inning, giving up five runs. The Sox bats finally woke up late, mounting a bit of a comeback against Baltimore reliever Jason Berken. Adam Dunn cranked a tape measure shot home run to left-center in a pinch hitting role. Mark Buehrle tries to snap the Sox five-game skid tonight.
The Cubs managed a split in their series with the Arizona Diamondbacks, courtesy of a 4-3 loss yesterday. The Cubs could have won the game if they hit better than 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position. They still had a chance in the ninth inning, but a deep Carlos Pena drive was caught by D-Backs outfielder Justin Upton right at the yellow line that would have marked the hit as a home run. the Cubs now travel to Los Angeles for a series with the Dodgers.
