Dreaming of a Daydream Nation

By Tankboy in Arts & Entertainment on Mar 16, 2007 4:30PM

2007_03_pitchfork.jpgIt was just announced Sonic Youth will headline the Pitchfork Music Festival's opening night, July 13, with a performance of Daydream Nation in its entirety. Holy shit, is that awesome or what?

Apparently it's the North American debut of the whole Don't Look Back concert series concept, and it will be co-sponsored with All Tomorrow's Parties. When we were in London last year, bands like the Lemonheads and Mudhoney were doing concerts under this moniker in which they reconstructed their classic albums live. We were bummed we missed those shows, so we're stoked the concept has finally made it Stateside.

And we're super stoked that Thurston, Kim, and company are premiering the whole idea with Daydream Nation's lovely washes of guitar and labyrinthine song structures.

Whoa.
