Senate Shoo-in To Speak at Dem Convention

It is now a fact: Barack Obama will be the next Senator from Illinois. The Illinois Republicans haven't managed to find a replacement for Jack Ryan, and so the Democratic National Party has plucked Obama to deliver tonight's keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in Boston.
Chicagoist has seen Obama speak before, and you can be sure that tonight's speech will be nothing less than a barnburner. Born in Hawaii, raised in Kansas and the child of a White American and a Black Kenyan, Obama has a speaking style that manages to smack of Midwestern William Jennings Bryan and a Southern tent revival at the same time. Even if you don't plan on voting for him, it's powerful stuff, and you just might want to vote for him afterwards.
Obama's speech begins at 8:45 pm Central Time on the news networks, C-SPAN, and PBS.
